The RedHawks hit 11 three-pointers during the game and held Toledo to 43.3 percent (26-for-60) shooting, but the Rockets took a 42-28 advantage on the boards, while Miami was hurt by going 10-for-18 (55.6 percent) from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Nike Sibande led the Red and White with 18 points.
The three-pointers were dropping early as redshirt senior guard Abdoulaye Harouna and junior forward Bam Bowman each hit one to put Miami in front, 6-2. Another Bowman three, a jumper by Sibande and a thunderous dunk from sophomore guard Jalen Adaway put the RedHawks up 14-7 with 12:26 to go in the first half.

A 9-0 run from the Rockets put them in the lead at 16-14. Back-to-back triples from Adaway and Bowman got Miami's offense moving again. Sibande and Bowman each hit three-pointers to keep the 'Hawks on top, but Toledo scored the final five points of the half to take a 31-29 lead into the break.

A pair of Bowman free throws began the Miami comeback. Redshirt sophomore guard Milos Jovic found Sibande for a tough three-pointer to cut the deficit to six at 55-49. Toledo brought it back to 10 at 59-49, but two buckets from Sibande, a free throw by senior guard Darrian Ringo and a three pointer by sophomore forward Dalonte Brown made it a four-point game at 61-57 with 4:12 remaining.
On Miami's next possession Ringo drove it into the paint to pull the 'Hawks within two. Adaway then tied the score at 61 with a layup. Ringo finished off the 14-2 run that put Miami on top 63-61 with 1:42 to go. It was the RedHawks first lead since there were 44 seconds left in the first half.

With 1:06 to go Toledo forward Nate Navigato drained a tough three as Miami just barely missed a steal. After a RedHawk miss, he then scored in the paint with 15 seconds remaining to make it 66-63. Miami called timeout and had a look at a tying three-pointer, but it rimmed out to allow the Rockets to come away with the win.
Bowman finished with 17 points for the RedHawks, tying a career high with five 3-pointers. Ringo had 10 points and four assists, while Brown scored seven points and brought down seven rebounds. Navigato led Toledo with 20 points.
Miami hits the road Saturday as it travels to Eastern Michigan. Tip time is at noon and it will air live on ESPN+.
