KALAMAZOO, Mich. ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" The Miami University men's basketball team held a slim lead throughout the majority of its game at Western Michigan on Tuesday, but a 14-3 closing run by the Broncos led them to a 68-64 victory. The RedHawks fall to 13-11 overall and 6-5 in the Mid-American Conference. The Broncos improve to 14-10 overall and 6-5 in the MAC.
Miami shot well from the field, finishing 23-for-50 (46.0 percent) for the game. It was led by freshman guard Nike Sibande, who had 13 points, and freshman forward Dalonte Brown, who finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. The Red and White were ultimately done in by 16 turnovers.
Freshman guard Jalen Adaway got Miami on the board with a three-pointer. Back-to-back layups from senior forward Logan McLane and Brown quickly gave the Red and White a 7-2 lead at the 18:15 mark. WMU tied the score at seven before a triple from freshman guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands made it 10-7 with 15:23 to go.

The RedHawks were in front 14-9 before an 8-0 run gave the Broncos their first lead since it was 2-0. It was short-lived as junior guard Darrian Ringo found Sibande for the three-pointer to tie the score at 17 at the 9:57 mark.

Western Michigan went on an 11-6 run to build a 28-23 advantage with 5:04 remaining in the half. Jumpers by Brown and Ringo, followed by a three-pointer from Coleman-Lands put Miami on top once again. A layup by McLane completed a 9-0 run and made it 32-28 at the 2:26 mark. The Broncos were able to end the run, but a pair of triples from redshirt junior guard Jake Wright sent Miami into the break with a 38-36 lead.

The Broncos took the advantage back when they opened the second half with a three-pointer. A jumper from Adaway and a triple from Brown put the RedHawks right back on top. Miami was able to build the lead up to seven when a dunk from Adaway made it 53-46 with 12:07 to go.

The RedHawks went on a scoring drought, as they were only able to score three points over the next six minutes. Their defense remained strong however, holding WMU to only eight and not allowing it take the lead. A three-pointer by Brown followed by a pair of free throws from Sibande made it a seven-point game once at 61-54 at the 5:23 mark.

Western Michigan went on a 6-0 run to pull within one before Ringo hit a pair of free throws that made it 63-60 with 3:10 to go. After the Broncos hit a jumper, one more free throw from Ringo gave Miami a 64-62 advantage at the 2:29 mark. WMU took the lead when Josh Davis hit a three-pointer with 2:15 remaining. The 'Hawks have a few opportunities to regain the advantage but could not get one to drop. The Broncos hit some free throws down the stretch to finish off the 68-64 win.
Adaway and McLane each had nine for Miami, while Coleman-Lands had seven. The RedHawks held a 32-29 rebounding advantage. Western Michigan was led by Reggie Jones, who finished with 20 points.
Miami returns to action on Friday when it hosts Toledo at 6 p.m. The game will air live on CBS Sports Network and has been designated "Wally Night." RedHawk Hall-of-Famer Wally Szczerbiak will be in Millett Hall as part of the broadcast crew and will be honored throughout the night.
