OXFORD, Ohio - Before taking a 10-day holiday break, the Miami University men's basketball team returns to Millett Hall as it hosts South Carolina State Thursday. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast will be available on the RedHawk IMG Sports Network Tunein App.

BIG TIME PERFORMANCE FROM THE LINE: While it was a tough shooting night for the RedHawks in their last game against NKU on Sunday, one place where they saw enormous success was from the free throw line. Miami went 20-for-22 (90.9 percent) from the charity stripe in the contest, the first time it shot above 90 percent this season. It was the 'Hawks best performance from the free throw line since they were 14-for-15 (93.3 percent) against Ohio on March 4, 2016. That was also the last time they shot better than 90 percent in a game.

COLEMAN-LANDS MAKING IMPACT: As he continues to round into form after missing the first seven games due to injury, sophomore guard Isaiah Coleman-Lands has been making an impact off the bench. Having drained eight 3-pointers in four games, he is averaging 6.5 points per contest. The team is seeing success with him back as it has outscored opponents 163-123 when Coleman-Lands is on the court. That gives him a plus-minus rating of +40 for the season.

ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE: The Bulldogs are 2-11 on the season. They've played a challenging schedule this season that has featured 11 road games. In their last game on Saturday at South Carolina Upstate, they held a one-point lead with under two minutes to go, but were unable to hold on in an 88-84 defeat. South Carolina State's offense runs through junior forward Damani Applewhite. He averages 19.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

THE SERIES WITH SOUTH CAROLINA STATE: This is the second meeting all-time between Miami and South Carolina State. On Jan. 2, 2016, the RedHawks built a large halftime lead, but a 27-7 run in the second half allowed the Bulldogs to come away with a 71-67 victory. Geovonie McKnight led Miami with 24 points, while Eric Washington finished with 16.

MIAMI VS. MEAC: The MEAC is made up of 12 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) located in states along the eastern seaboard. The only other MEAC school Miami has ever faced is Florida A&M, which it defeated 52-33 on Nov. 17, 2006. The RedHawks have never played Bethune Cookman, Coppin State, Delaware State, Howard, Maryland Eastern Shore, Morgan State, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T, North Carolina Central or Savannah State.

UP AHEAD: The RedHawks resume play after the holiday break with their final non-conference game as they host Evansville on Sunday, Dec. 30. Tip time is 1 p.m. and it will air live on ESPN+. An audio broadcast will be available on the RedHawk IMG Sports Network Tunein App.
