Hot Shooting RedHawks Power Past Bulldogs

Miami hit 12 three-pointers to improve to 7-5 on the year.
OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami men's basketball team drained nine first-half three-pointers and pulled away with 79-55 win over South Carolina State on Thursday night.
Miami went to work from long range in the early going, grabbing a 3-2 lead on a Dalonte Brown three with Nike Sibande also connecting from long range as the Red & White went up 17-6 in the early going.
The Bulldogs eventually battled back to tie it up at 20 apiece with 9:16 remaining in the half, but then the RedHawks stormed in control of the game. After using a free throw to regain the lead, Sibande and Brown hit from long range to make it 27-20. After an SCSU bucket, MU countered with seven-straight points. Miami ended up hitting nine three-pointers in the first half with Isaiah Coleman-Lands racing down the court and banking home one more at the buzzer to put the team up 49-26 at the half as the Red & White closed the frame on a 29-6 run.
While the long-range shooting cooled off for the Red & White, they still ended up winning the second half scoring as well. Jalen Adaway continued a solid performance with nine more points in the second half as MU went up by as many as 31 points (74-43) with 5:15 remaining as they cruised to the win.
Sibande's 24 points led the RedHawks as three players scored in double figures for the night. Adaway added 18 while Brown netted 11 in the first half. The RedHawks hit 12 three-pointers on the night and shot 43.3 percent from the floor while holding the Bulldogs to 37.2 percent shooting. MU also held a 44-33 rebounding advantage.
Miami returns to the court on Dec. 30 when it hosts Evansville. Opening tip is at 1 p.m.
