The RedHawks add five to their ranks on National Signing Day.
OXFORD, Ohio – Miami women's basketball head coach Megan Duffy added five players to the RedHawks' ranks on National Signing Day on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to officially welcome the Miami class of 2023! The talent and depth of this class will provide the necessary ingredients to help us get closer to reaching our goal of a MAC title. All five are proven winners and will excel both in the classroom and on the court here at Miami. Three words immediately come to my mind when I think of this class: tough, successful and versatile. Lead by our recruiting coordinator, Ke'Sha Blanton, the coaching staff did a tremendous job of garnering a special group of young women."
Â
The recruiting class is made up of three in-state recruits in Kennedi Myles, Peyton Scott and Morgan Sharps and two from the basketball-rich state of Indiana in Maddie Nolan and Amani Freeman.
Â
Â

Amani Freeman, 6-2, Avon, Ind. (Avon)
Â
"Amani has just scratched the surface of where we think she can go in years to come," said Duffy. "She brings great size and athleticism to the front court. Amani has shown the ability to make an impact on the defensive side of the ball and will continue to work hard to be an anchor inside for our program."
Â
Freeman expects to transform her game while playing at Miami. "I chose Miami because of its great coaching staff and program," said Freeman. "Not only do I love the campus but it feels like home and is close to where I'm from."
Â
Â

Kennedi Myles, 6-1, F, Cincinnati, Ohio (Walnut Hills)
Â
Kennedi Myles averaged 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals per game during her junior season, while also recording 12 double-doubles. She was named conference player of the year twice. Myles is a two-time all-district first team selection and a two-year captain.
Â
"We feel like Kennedi's versatility and competitiveness will help us here at Miami from day one," said Duffy. "She has the ability to play multiple positions, defend, rebound and bring a toughness that we need for the future of our program. We love that she grew up just down the road and jumped at the opportunity to keep raising the bar here at Miami."
Â
Myles expects to grow personally, both on and off the court. "Once I got on campus and met the team, I knew that Miami was the right place for me," said Myles. "They also have a great program for my major."
Â
Â

Maddie Nolan, 5-9, Guard, Zionsville, Ind. (Zionsville)
Â
Maddie Nolan hit the 1,000 point mark during her junior season at Zionsville. Nolan is a three-time all-conference first team selection, multiple all-state selection and a two-time underclass supreme 15. She was tabbed an Adidas All-American, All-USA Indiana First Team, First Team Super Team and Junior All-Star Core Team. During her junior season, Nolan averaged more than 20 points per game.
Â
"Maddie is one of the top guards coming out of Indiana in her class," said Duffy. "This is a player who has gotten better each and every year and someone that you want to go to battle with. She's competitive, talented and loves to play with that chip on her shoulder. Maddie will be a major scoring threat in the backcourt for years to come."
Â
Nolan plans to earn a degree in kinesiology. "[Miami] has a great combination of academics and basketball," said Nolan. "The coaching staff made me feel wanted through the entire process. They continue to support, encourage and give me new goals."
Â
Â

Peyton Scott, 5-8, Guard, Lynchburg, Ohio (Lynchburg-Clay)
Â
Peyton Scott put up 1,517 points through the first three seasons in her high school career, ranking third in program history in scoring. Scott has also recorded 537 rebounds through her junior year. Scott was also named League Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season and the team's Most Valuable Player.
Â
"We are so excited that Peyton will be joining our RedHawk family," said Duffy. "She finds success in whatever she puts her mind to. An all-state soccer player as well, Peyton thrives in any competitive situation and will be able to play both guard positions. She will be a great future leader and bring out the best in her teammates."
Â
Scott plans on to study business. "As soon as I stepped on [Miami's] campus, it felt like home," said Scott. "It has a tremendous academic record, especially in the business field. The staff and players have the same goals I do and I know they are going to challenge me to be my best."
Â
Â

She has done nothing but win during her high school career at Newark and we expect her to bring that here on a daily basis."
Â
Sharps expects the RedHawks to excel on the court and in the classroom. "The culture at Miami is set around hard work, togetherness and family," said Sharps. "I really connected with the players', coaches' and commits' desire to be great in the classroom and on the court."
