Seniors to Be Honored as Volleyball Hosts Buffalo and Akron

OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University volleyball team begins its second go around through the teams of the MAC East Division this weekend. On Friday, the RedHawks host Buffalo at 7 p.m. That match will air live on ESPN+. On Saturday, Miami takes on Akron at 5 p.m. inside Millett Hall. That match will air live on ESPN3.

FRIDAY PROMOTIONS: This is the It's On Us Game, as well as our Halloween Bash. Fans are invited to wear their best Halloween costumes and there will be free Halloween candy as well. Fans can receive free admission by showing a ticket to one of the Miami hockey games against Colgate.

SATURDAY PROMOTIONS: This is Fan Appreciation, World Night and Senior Night match. Seniors Stela Kukoc and Courtney Simons will be honored pregame. There will be a free mystery prize for every fan in attendance. Fans can receive free admission by showing a ticket to one of the Miami hockey games against Colgate.
 
OPPONENT PREVIEWS
ABOUT BUFFALO: The Bulls are 13-9 overall and 5-5 in the MAC. They have been a strong road team in conference, going 4-2 in matches away from Buffalo. Last weekend, they defeated Eastern Michigan 3-1 on Friday, but dropped a 1-3 decision to Central Michigan on Saturday. Buffalo's top all around player is sophomore outside hitter Andrea Mitrovic. She has 363 kills, an average of 4.43 kills per set. She also had 233 digs, an average of 2.84 digs per set.

SERIES WITH BULLS: Miami holds a 30-9 lead in the all-time series with Buffalo. The RedHawks have won eight straight against the Bulls, including a 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-19) win in their first meeting this season on Sept. 22 in Buffalo. After taking a competitive first set, Miami used its blocking game and defense to earn the victory. Junior middle hitter Margaret Payne set a new career high with 11 blocks (one solo and 10 assisted). She also recorded 13 kills, while freshman middle hitter Corinne Jemison put down 10. The RedHawks hit .227 for the match and held Buffalo to a .085 attack percentage.

ABOUT AKRON: The Zips are 11-10 overall and 3-7 in the MAC. Last weekend they took a five-set thriller over Central Michigan on Friday. They then fell in straight sets to Eastern Michigan on Saturday. Akron is led by senior outside hitter Kayla Gwozdz. She has 249 kills, an average of 3.15 kills per set.

SERIES WITH ZIPS: Miami holds a 45-14 lead in the all-time series with Akron. The RedHawks have won 11 straight against the Zips. That includes a 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-18) victory to open MAC play earlier this year on Sept. 21 in Akron. Miami held Akron to a .097 attack percentage to cruise to the victory. Freshman outside hitter Gaby Harper led a balanced attack with eight kills and 10 digs. The 'Hawks also got a season-high 14 service aces in the win.
