OXFORD, Ohio - A trip up to the state of Michigan awaits the Miami University volleyball team this weekend. On Friday, the RedHawks head to Ypsilanti to face Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. That contest will air live on ESPN+. Miami then travels to Mount Pleasant Saturday for a showdown against Central Michigan that will begin at 8 p.m.
HARPER'S BIG GAME: In the five set win over Ohio last Friday, freshman
Gaby Harper recorded a double-double with an impressive 22 kills and 14 digs. The 22 kills were the most for a RedHawk in any match since Paige Hill had 24 against Kent State on Sept. 25, 2015. It was only eight off the school record, which is 30 set by Wendy Tepe on Nov. 8, 1985. Harper already has six double-digit kill efforts during her rookie campaign to go with six double-digit dig efforts. She is second on Miami with 156 kills, an average of 2.56 per set. She is third with 148 digs, an average of 2.43 per set.
DEFENSIVE CONTROL: The RedHawks continue to exhibit a strong defense, holding opponents to a .163 attack percentage, which ranks second in the MAC. In conference-only contests, Miami is holding opponents to a .147 attack percentage. Five 'Hawks have 100 or more digs this season, led by senior right side hitter
Stela Kukoc with 191, an average of 3.13 digs per set. Sophomore libero
Abigail Huser has the best digs per set average at 4.67.
OPPONENT PREVIEW
ABOUT EASTERN MICHIGAN: After going on a late run and clinching a spot in the 2017 MAC Tournament on the last day of the regular season, the Eagles' momentum has continued in 2018 as they have broken out with a 13-7 record and are tied for the MAC lead at 5-1. They upped their winning streak to three matches last weekend with a 3-0 victory over Northern Illinois on Friday and a 3-1 win over Western Michigan on Saturday. Eastern Michigan is led offensively by senior outside hitter Jordan Smith. She has 243 kills, an average of 3.57 per set. The Eagles however have found their success on the defensive side of the net, as they lead the MAC by holding opponents to a .145 attack percentage. They are led there by senior Alyssa LaFace. She has 406 digs, an average of 5.97 digs per set.
SERIES WITH EAGLES: Miami holds a 40-14 lead in the all-time series with Eastern Michigan. The RedHawks have won six straight against the Eagles, including a 3-0 (25-16, 35-33, 28-26) victory in their last meeting on Oct. 14, 2017.

ABOUT CENTRAL MICHIGAN: The youngest team in the MAC, the Chippewas are 3-15 overall and 0-6 in conference play. They fell to Western Michigan in straight sets on Friday. They took a set against Northern Illinois on Saturday, but ultimately dropped a 1-3 decision. Central Michigan is led by sophomore outside hitter Kalina Smith. She has 176 kills, an average of 2.84 per set.
SERIES WITH CHIPPEWAS: Miami holds a 34-25-1 lead in the all-time series with Central Michigan. The RedHawks have won four straight against the Chippewas, including a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-20) victory in their last meeting on Oct. 13, 2017 in Oxford.
