Last Week: Miami (17-14 overall, 3-3 MAC) opened the week with a sweep of conference honors as junior third baseman Kat Lee was named MAC East Player of the Week and sophomore pitcher Shannon Hohman was named MAC East Pitcher of the Week. For Lee, it was her second honor of the season and third in her career, while it was the first accolade for Hohman. On the field, the RedHawks saw their 11-game winning streak snapped as they were swept by Ball State. In Game 1 on Saturday, Miami's offense came out firing, using a three-run home run by senior catcher Lauren Anderson to build a 5-0 lead in the top of the second. However, Ball State used a four-run third and 14 consecutive retired Miami batters to tie the game at five, eventually prevailing with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to clinch a 6-5 win (RECAP). The RedHawks' offense continued to struggle in Game 2, with Lee's RBI single providing their only run of the contest. Freshman Jaime Scher struck out seven Cardinals in a complete game effort, but a two-run walkoff home run capped off another Ball State rally in a 3-1 loss. In Sunday's series finale, Anderson homered again as Miami twice rallied to tie the game, but a three-run homer in the fifth sealed Ball State's 6-3 victory (RECAP). This Week: Miami remains on the road for a doubleheader at Bowling Green on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The RedHawks will then return home for a three-game set against Toledo this weekend. The series will open on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Last Week: The RedHawks (7-9, 2-1 MAC) continued their winning streak on Friday afternoon after defeating Temple, 4-3, in a heated match for the first time in series history. The pair of juniors Anastasiia Vasiukhina and Hannah Shteyn secured the doubles point for the RedHawks when they took down Anais Nussaume and Dina Karina. Miami rattled off five unanswered points to overcome a deficit of (5-1), to which Temple responded with a point of its own to send the match into a tiebreaker. Ultimately, the Red & White prevailed to take the point 7-6 (8-6). Senior Andreea Badileanu kicked things off with a win at third position over Galina Chernykh in straight sets (6-2, 6-0). The Owls made the board after Vasiukhina fell to Mariana Bedon (6-0, 6-2). Miami had the lead until Temple tied the match after defeating RedHawks at No. 6 and 1. Sophomore Emily Struble secured Miami's fourth consecutive win after she downed Dina Karina 7-6 (8-6) (RECAP). The RedHawks returned on Sunday to face the Akron Zips where a score of 4-3 handed Miami a loss, effectively ending its winning streak. In doubles, Miami collected only one win in doubles action thanks to the tandem of Struble and Badileanu, who handily downed Shannon Newnes and Rita Pedroso in a quick 6-3 match. Struble put the RedHawks on the board with her win over Karolina Maksimova, (6-3, 6-1), at fourth position. Junior Nelli Ponomareva secured Miami's third point of the match in the first flight after topping Sophia Geier (6-4, 2-6, 6-3) (RECAP). Up Next: The RedHawks are back on home turf this Friday when they are set to take on Toledo at 1 p.m. in Oxford, Ohio.

Last Week: Miami (7-19, 1-5 MAC) began this past week on a high note with a pair of midweek wins. The team got things started with a comeback victory over Northern Kentucky on Tuesday. Trailing 4-0 early, the 'Hawks struck for five unanswered runs, powered by Dallas Hall's two round-trippers, and topped the Norse, 5-4 (RECAP). The Red & White followed that up with a 7-0 blanking of a streaking Xavier squad on Wednesday. Four MU pitchers combined to tally the shutout (RECAP). The RedHawk uptick was deadened with a weekend sweep at the hands of Central Michigan. The Chippewas earned 13-7 and 6-4 wins in a Saturday doubleheader after some weather altered the weekend's original schedule (RECAP). Sunday's series finale saw the MU offense fall silent and CMU used some early scoring to capture a 5-1 victory (RECAP). This Week: The Red & White have another busy week ahead with five games on the schedule, beginning with a 6 p.m. first pitch on Tuesday at home against Cincinnati. On Wednesday, Miami will make a quick trip to Xavier to battle the Musketeers at 3 p.m. The team closes the week with a three-game weekend series against Eastern Michigan at home.
