OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University baseball team kicked off its week by blanking the top-scoring and top-hitting team in the country on Tuesday, taking down Morehead State in an 8-0 decision at McKie Field. The pitching, as well as multi-hit performances from Cal Elvers and Ross Haffey, led the way as the Red & White came out victorious for the eight consecutive time in non-conference action.

Bailey Martin got the starting nod on the mound for the 'Hawks and it proved to be a good call as the sophomore went six scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out two. Andy Almquist, Ryan Marske and Gus Graham each hurled an inning in relief, combining to allow just one hit and one walk while fanning three.

Miami (17-25) got the all-important first run of the game when Landon Stephens led off the second frame with a scorching solo shot over the left field wall, his third round-tripper of the year.

The Red & White widened their 1-0 lead with a multi-run fourth. Stephens started things off by reaching on a hit by pitch and stole second before Cal Elvers got on via a walk. Dallas Hall kept it going by reaching on an error by the MSU shortstop. Stephens was able to score on the play. Later in the inning, with two down, Tyler Harris was able to draw a bases-loaded walk before a Haffey single through the left side plated two more. At the end of four frames, the 'Hawks had themselves a 5-0 advantage.

Miami tacked on three more runs in the seventh to put the game away for good. Adam Yacek ripped a one-out double down the left field line and was advanced to third on a groundout, which set-up an Elvers RBI double to right. Following a Hall base on balls, Brooks Urich poked a base hit throguh the left side, bringing in Elvers. Will Vogelgesang capped the contest's scoring when he singled through the right side to plate Hall.

The RedHawks now look towards the weekend as they head to Bowling Green for a three-game MAC East series against the Falcons. The action gets underway on Friday with a 3:05 p.m. first pitch.
