Last Week: Miami (9-20-7) played a pair of competitive games in the NCHC Playoffs at second-seeded Minnesota Duluth, but ultimately saw its 2016-17 season come to an end over the weekend. On Friday night, the RedHawks played a back-and-forth contest that saw them hold three separate leads after initially falling behind 1-0. After allowing the first goal, Zach LaValle and Carson Meyer scored 35 seconds apart to grab the lead 64 seconds later and hold a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes. An injury to Ryan Larkin pressed Chase Munroe into action early in the second and he was greeted with a UMD tying goal just 3:44 into the middle frame. Gordie Green made it a 3-2 game late in the period, but that was answered 43 seconds later by the Bulldogs to leave it tied after two periods. Ryan Siroky gave MU another lead with 8:46 remaining, but another UMD tally 1:05 later forced overtime where eventually Dominic Toninato scored 7:24 in to hand the Bulldogs a 5-4 overtime win (RECAP). Saturday night saw MU fall into a 2-0 deficit in the second period before Justin Greenberg got Miami on the board with a power play tally midway through the frame to cut the deficit to 2-1 after 40 minutes. Kiefer Sherwood and Anthony Louis both scored in the first 3:17 of the third to put Miami in front 3-2. However, UMD tied it up with 6:35 left and regained the lead 2:12 later before putting it away with an empty netter to eliminate the RedHawks via a 5-3 decision (RECAP). This Week: The 2016-17 season is complete.

The Miami pitching staff, led by freshman starter Jaime Scher and senior reliever Kelsey Fredericks, were able to hold off scoring chances by the Colonels throughout the game. In the bottom of the sixth, senior designated player Lauren Anderson broke the contest open with a grand slam to left-center that placed the final score at 7-2. Schlattman went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Anderson, junior center fielder Kaitlyn Gliha and junior third baseman Kat Lee each tallied two hits. (RECAP) Earlier in the week, Lee was named MAC East Player of the Week for her nine-RBI performance at the San Diego Classic.
