Volleyball
Last Week: Miami (21-5 overall, 13-1 MAC) saw its school record win streak come to an end, but not before getting one more victory to increase it to 20. The RedHawks historic win streak hit 20 matches with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-21) victory on the road against rival Ohio on Friday. (RECAP) Miami saw its 20-match win streak come to an end as it fell in a 2-3 (24-26, 25-21, 25-19, 24-26, 10-15) decision to Kent State Saturday evening. It was the first RedHawk loss since fall in five sets to Illinois State over two months ago on Sept. 3. (RECAP) This Week: The final week of the regular season will see Miami attempt to clinch at least a share of the MAC regular season crown for the first time since 1998. The RedHawks host Akron on Friday at 7 p.m. Miami then welcomes Buffalo to Millett Hall on Saturday at 5 p.m. The `Hawks three seniors will be honored prior to that match.
Field Hockey
Last Week: Miami (12-8 overall) advanced to the MAC Tournament Championship for the second consecutive season, but fell in the title game. After a hard-fought, back and forth contest, the RedHawks advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Longwood in the semifinals Friday evening. (RECAP) Miami played even with top seed Kent State for a half, but a big second half offensive attack for the Golden Flashes gave them a 4-0 victory in the Mid-American Conference Championship game Saturday afternoon. Alysa Xavier, Carla Romagosa and Mariona Heras were named to the All-Tournament Team (RECAP). This Week: The 2016 season is complete.
Women's Basketball
Last Week: Miami earned a 64-61 victory over Ohio Dominican in its only exhibition contest prior to opening the season. Freshman guard Lauren Dickerson was impressive, scoring 26 points. (RECAP) This Week: The 2016-17 season opens Friday on the road when the RedHawks travel to Austin Peay for a 2 p.m. (EST) game.
Men's Basketball
Last Week: Miami continued preseason preparation for the season. This Week: The 2016-17 season begins on Friday at 1 p.m. when the RedHawks host Muskingum for Heroes/Community Day.
Hockey
Last Week: Miami (3-4-2, 0-2 NCHC) struggled in its first weekend of conference play, dropping a pair of road decisions to Western Michigan. On Friday, Anthony Louis netted a pair of goals and an assist, the latter of which put the RedHawks on top of the Broncos 3-2 in the second period in a contest that was a back and forth affair at the time. Western Michigan tied the score before intermission before scoring three times in the third to top Miami 6-3 (RECAP). The Red and White got off to a better start in Saturday's finale, with Kiefer Sherwood scoring during 4-on-4 play and Gordie Green netting his first goal of the season to stake MU to a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes. WMU ended up scoring the next four goals however and killed off all 11 Miami power plays to complete the series sweep with a 5-2 decision (RECAP). This Week: The RedHawks resume NCHC play at home when they host Omaha on Friday (7:35 p.m.) and Saturday (7:05 p.m.)
Tennis
Last Week: The RedHawks wrapped up their fall tournament schedule in Louisville. Miami got singles wins across the board in Friday night's tournament opener, going a perfect 6-0 on the day while also notching a pair of doubles wins (RECAP). On Saturday, Nelli Ponomareva, Emily Struble and Hannah Shteyn all posted singles victories to highlight a solid performance on the court (RECAP). Miami wrapped things up with three more singles victories on Sunday (RECAP). This Week: Miami is done with its fall schedule and begins dual play at Florida Atlantic on Jan. 13.
Football
Last Week: Miami recorded its fourth straight win with a 37-17 victory over Central Michigan last Friday night. Gus Ragland completed 13 passes for 218 yards and four touchdowns, while Miami rushed for 218 yards on the ground (RECAP). This Week: Miami travels to Buffalo for a Nov. 12 contest. Game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on ESPN3.
Swimming
This Week: Miami University women's swimming and diving team was victorious again, routing Ohio, 192-108 on Saturday afternoon in the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center, where they are undefeated. (RECAP). This Week: The men and women will be back together again next Saturday, as they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State at noon.
