RedHawks Fifth at MAC Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – The Miami University men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up the first day of the Mid-American Conference Championships in fifth out of seven teams, tallying a total of 56 points.
Day one of the competition opened up with the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay.
Junior Davis Staley, senior Sam Crockett, sophomore Grant Stafford, and senior Joe Baumgartner represented the RedHawks in the 200-yard medley. The group swam to a school record-breaking time of 1:29.95, placing fifth.
The second race of the night was the 800-yard freestyle relay. Junior Christopher Dieter, sophomores Lucas Brock, Bryan McNamara, and senior Andrew Kilkenny turned in a final time of 6:38.13, earning another fifth-place finish.
Missouri State leads the way with 80 points, followed by Eastern Michigan with 68 points and Southern Illinois in third with 64 points. Fourth place belongs to the University at Buffalo, tallying 60 points with Miami close behind in fifth with 56 points. Sixth and seventh places are held by the University of Evansville (50) and Ball State (26).
The competition is set to resume tomorrow with preliminaries starting at 11 a.m. followed by the finals at 7 p.m.
