
Bader and Campbell Head to Olympic Swimming Trials

OXFORD, Ohio--Two Miami University swimmers will compete in the Olympic Trials that run from June 26 to July 3 in Omaha, Neb. Evan Bader (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) and Elise Campbell (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield), both breaststroke specialists, try to earn a spot on the 2016 Olympic Team next week.
Campbell, who has two years of eligibility remaining with the RedHawks, recently qualified in the 100m breaststroke at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis, Ind. on June 3, 2016 with a time of 1:11.38. The preliminaries for women's 100m breaststroke is set for Monday, June 27 with the semifinals coming later that day and the finals to be contested on Tuesday, June. 28. Campbell is one of 129 women qualified for the 100 breaststroke.
Bader, who recently completed his eligibility with Miami, qualified in the 200m breaststroke at the Speedo Sectionals in Columbus, Ohio on July 22, 2015 with a time of 2:18.06. The preliminaries for the men's 200m breaststroke is set for Wednesday, June 29 with the semifinals coming later that day and the finals to be contested on Thursday, June. 30. Bader is one of 126 men qualified for the 200 breaststroke, which is the same event in which Miami University alumnus Bill Mulliken `61 won Olympic gold in 1960 in Rome. Mulliken is one of just five Americans to win Olympic gold in the event.
The preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. (ET) and the semifinals/finals begin at 7:45 p.m. (ET) each day.
