Freshman outside hitter Stela Kukoc earned the start after her play last week and took advantage with another strong match. The RedHawks set the tone early, jumping out to a 7-1 lead in set one. Junior outside hitter Maris Below and Kukoc each had two kills in the run, while Hill also put one down. Despite a couple kills from senior outside hitter Annie Reiswig, Buffalo fought back into the set, pulling to within two at 13-15. A kill from Kukoc and a Bull attack error gave the `Hawks a four-point advantage, but UB went on a 5-1 to tie the score at 18 and force a Miami timeout.
Out of the break, the `Hawks seemed revitalized, scoring four straight points off of sophomore libero Maeve McDonald's serve. After Buffalo answered with a kill, a service error, followed by back-to-back kills from Kukoc and Zielinski gave the Red and White a 25-19 win.
Tied at nine in set two, a pair of kills from sophomore outside hitter Katie Tomasic, along with kills from Hill, Kukoc and Below were part of a 7-0 run that put Miami in control at 16-9. The Bulls tried to fight back, scoring a few points, but a kill and a service ace by Kukoc got the RedHawks moving again. Another kill from Tomasic off an assist by Brakauskas finished off a 25-17 victory for the Red and White.
Set three stayed tight early, as Buffalo took a 7-6 advantage. Similar to the previous set, Miami gained control by scoring the next 10 points in a row to take a 16-7 lead. During the run, Ingle and Reiswig each had three kills, while McDonald had another service ace. The Bulls were able to get as close as five points at 16-21, but Ingle put down two more kills as part of a 4-2 finish that gave Miami a 25-18 win and a victory in the match in straight sets.
