Day was a First-Team All-MAC selection and Second-Team CoSIDA Academic All-American for the RedHawk women's basketball program. A three-time captain for the Red and White from 2001-04, Day was a dominant force in the post and equally potent threat from the perimeter. She spearheaded the team to a Mid-American Conference regular-season title and National Invitational Tournament berth as a senior in 2004. Day continues to rank among Miami statistical leaders in seven career categories (rebounds, free throws, free-throw attempts, free-throw percentage, steals, double-doubles and 20-point games) and four single-season categories (rebounds, free throws, free-throw attempts and free-throw percentage). She finished her career with 1,269 points, which ranks 11th all-time at Miami. Day is going into her 10th season as an assistant coach with the Miami women's basketball program.
A two-time All-MAC selection and the fifth all-time leading scorer for Miami men's basketball, Frierson propelled the RedHawks to MAC regular-season titles in 1997 and 1999 and a MAC Tournament crown in 1997. Leading Miami to three postseason appearances during his career from 1996-99, he was a key component on one of the greatest NCAA Tournament runs in program history as the 1999 RedHawks reached the Sweet 16. He owns the single-season record for minutes played (1,201) and ranks among MU statistical leaders in seven single-season categories (games started, minutes played, points, field goal attempts, free throws, free-throw attempts and free-throw percentage) and 11 career lists (games started, minutes played, points, field goals, field goal attempts, assists, steals, 3-point field goal attempts, free throws, free-throw attempts and free-throw percentage). Frierson is part of Miami's top scoring duo with Wally Szczerbiak, finishing his career with 1,644 points.
Winning five individual MAC titles, Gardner led Miami men's tennis to a string of success from 1975-78. The Red and White captured four-consecutive MAC Championships and won 48-straight MAC matches during Gardner's MU career. Gardner seized titles at No. 2 singles in 1976 and at No. 4 singles in 1975 and 1977, while pairing up to capture doubles titles in the third flight in 1975 and 1977. Garner and his teammates made MAC history in 1977 as they won all nine flights at the MAC Championships, a feat that was never duplicated. He earned First-Team All-MAC honors in 1976 and helped Miami to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 1975. Gardner served as team captain his final season in 1978.
Kohrs, a powerful left-side attacker, lifted Miami volleyball to its first three MAC titles in 1980, 1981 and 1982. Competing for the Red and White from 1980-83, Kohrs was a two-time All-MAC selection, earning first-team distinction in 1982 as the Red and White captured the first MAC regular-season crown. It was the conference's first season holding regular-season matches instead of only sponsoring a tournament format. Kohrs and the 1980 team advanced to the Midwest Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (MAIAW) regional championship and amassed a 41-10 record, which continues to stand as the most wins in program history. The following year Kohrs and the Red and White again made history, earning the program's first NCAA Tournament bid.
Krause was a two-time Associated Press All-American, earning Second-Team All-America honors in 1971 and garnering Honorable Mention All-America recognition in 1970. A two-time all-MAC selection at guard, he earned first-team distinction in 1971. Krause also played defensive line for the Red and White, notching 70 solo tackles and 75 assisted tackles as a senior and was tabbed the team's Outstanding Defensive Lineman. With 30 tackles against Bowling Green in 1970, including 17 solo stops, Krause set Miami's single-game record for tackles and its single-game mark for solo tackles. He anchored a Miami defense that ranked third in the nation in total defense in 1971. Originally a walk-on to the team, Krause went on to serve as tri-captain as a senior. Playing from 1969-71 for Miami, Krause was tabbed the team's most valuable player in 1971.
A stand-out defensive back for the Miami football team from 1976-79, Springs was a two-time First-Team All-MAC selection for the Red and White in 1978 and 1979. He earned Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America honors as a senior in 1979. Springs led Miami in punt returns in 1977 and 1978, while leading the team in interceptions in 1978. He helped Miami to a 10-1 season in 1977 and a 5-0 MAC record en route to a conference title. Following his Miami career, Springs went on to play in the National Football League, playing with the New York Jets from 1981-85 and finishing his career with the Indianapolis Colts in 1987.
One of the most decorated swimmers in Miami men's swimming and diving history, Winans was a 10-time MAC Champion for the Red and White from 1982-85. A breaststroke specialist, Winans was undefeated at the MAC Championships in the 100 breaststroke during his MU career and captured three MAC titles in the 200 breaststroke (1982, 1983, 1984). He also was a part of three MAC Championship relays, helping Miami to titles in the 400 medley relay in 1982, 1984 and 1985. A walk-on to the team as a freshman, Winans was a three-time NCAA Qualifier and U.S. Senior National Qualifier who also competed in the 1984 Olympic Trials in the 100 breaststroke. He held the Miami record in the 100 breaststroke for 30 years with his time of 55.83 standing from 1983-2013.
