OXFORD, Ohio - The RedHawk volleyball team captured the Miami Best Western/Sycamore Inn Invitational Saturday with a convincing 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-17) victory over Alabama A&M. It is the second tournament win for Miami this season, as it previously won Indiana State's Quality Inn/ASICS Classic. The RedHawks improve to 8-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-10.

Amy Raseman was named the Best Western/Sycamore Inn Tournament's Most Valuable Player. She had 27 kills and seven block assists over the weekend. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Cassie Farrell, Jenn Caylor and Meg Riley.

Alabama A&M opened up a 5-3 lead to begin the match. Two kills from Raseman were part of a 7-2 run that put the RedHawks in front, 10-7. Raseman, Farrell and Lisa Treadway each recorded kills as Miami maintained that lead for the majority of the set. However, the Bulldogs were able to eventually tie the score at 16. From there a block by Chelsea Visk and Raseman, along with a few A&M attack errors allowed Miami to go back in front, 20-17. Leading 21-19, a kill by Treadway sparked a 3-1 run that gave the RedHawks set point. Miami then earned a 25-20 win off a block by Raseman and Kayleigh Cox.

Miami came out smoking in set two, eventually opening up an 11-1 advantage. During that run, Caylor had two kills and a block, while Treadway had a service ace. The Bulldogs would eventually pull to within eight at 11-19, but a kill from Cox off an Amy Kendall assist gave Miami a 20-11 lead. Alabama A&M made things interesting with a 7-2 run that pulled it to within four at 18-22. From there, the teams traded points until it was 24-20 in favor of Miami. Meg Riley then put down the set winning kill for the Red and White off an assist from Kendall.

Tied at six in set three, Miami took control with a 12-4 run. During the streak, Treadway had two kills and a block, Riley had two kills and the RedHawks forced the Bulldogs into six attack errors. The teams traded points until it was 23-15, Miami in front. After an A&M kill, Riley put down her own kill to create match point. The Bulldogs fought one of them off, but Riley would score once again to give the RedHawks a 25-17 win and a straight set victory.

Treadway led the way with 10 kills. Riley just missed a triple-double with nine kills, 12 assists and nine digs. Kendall was the Red and White leader in assists with 23, while Tori Clifford had 10 digs in her first career start at libero. Miami hit .298 for the match, and held Alabama A&M to a .042 hitting percentage.

The RedHawks return to action on Tuesday when they make the short trip to Wright State for a 7 p.m. match.
