Final Stats

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - Mary Hull scored two goals as the Miami field hockey team came from behind to defeat Central Michigan, 3-2, Sunday in Mid-American Conference action. The RedHawks improve to 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the MAC. The Chippewas are 3-9 overall and 1-4 in the MAC.

The RedHawks struck first, only nine minutes into the game. Hull received a pass from Emily Gruesser and redirected the ball into the net from just outside the circle. It looked like the lead would hold until halftime, but CMU was able to score on a late penalty corner with time expired to send the teams into the break tied at one.

In the 37th minute, the Chippewas took the lead off a goal inside the circle. Hull answered in the 45th minute when Jackie Nguyen found her right in front of the net. For Hull that was her ninth goal of the season, tying her with Nguyen for the team lead.

The score remained that way until the 64th minute, when Kate Snyder found the loose ball in the circle and was able to put it past the Central Michigan goalkeeper for an unassisted goal.

The RedHawks controlled the ball from there and held on for the 3-2 victory. For the game Miami outshot CMU, 16-9. Hull led the way with three shots on goal. The RedHawks also had an 11-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Miami returns home next weekend for Alumni/Parent Weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 16, the RedHawks will host Kent State for a noon contest. On Sunday, Oct. 17, fellow MAC co-leader Ohio visits Oxford for a 1 p.m. game.
