ANN ARBOR, Mich. - A steady downpour brought a stop to Miami University's NCAA Regional game against Michigan after 2 and ½ innings Friday night. The game will resume at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning with the Wolverines batting in the bottom of the third.
Michigan struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Amanda Chidester got the Wolverines on the board with a two-run home run. A RedHawk throwing error on a base hit later in the inning gave Michigan a 3-0 lead.
Miami responded in the top of the third when Alexis Javier reached on a field error. Jordan McElroy sacrificed her over to second base. Meghan Mawn then stepped to the plate and hit her first career home run to cut the deficit to 3-2. The rains picked up from there and the tarp was pulled once the RedHawks had made their third out. After waiting for about 90 minutes, the decision was made to suspend the game until 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
The link above is the revised gametracker link for tomorrow's game. If the RedHawks win, they will face Notre Dame at 12:30 p.m. If they lose, they will face Cleveland State in a elimination game at 3 p.m.
