Miami Finishes Sweep of Buffalo in Doubleheader

OXFORD, Ohio - Miami picked up a doubleheader sweep of Buffalo on Saturday, winning game one 18-15 and game two 11-0. During the weekend series with Buffalo, Miami had a streak of 16 consecutive innings with a run and racked up 44 runs on the weekend.
The pair of wins gives Miami a record of 8-1 at McKie Field at Hayden Park and improves the RedHawks to 10-5 in Mid-American Conference play. Miami will back in action next week on Tuesday as they travel to Indiana State to take on the Sycamores at 6 p.m. The Red and White will be back at home on Wednesday when they welcome Xavier to McKie Field at Hayden Park at 6 p.m.
GAME ONE
Miami scored in every inning in game one and scored multiple runs in all but the eighth inning. Nine different players drove in runs and six different players drove in two or more runs.
The RedHawks scored two runs in each of the first three innings and led 6-2 after three. The Bulls tied the game in the top of the fourth with four runs on three hits. Miami scored twice again in the bottom the fourth inning on a Chris Nadeau (Saline, Mich.) fielder's choice and an Eric Darlage (Powell, Ohio) single to retake the lead.
After a scoreless top of the fifth, Miami extended its lead in the bottom of the inning on a Jon Edgington (Cincinnati, Ohio) homerun to left field. Adam Eaton (Springfield, Ohio) made it 8-6 two batters later on a homerun to right. The Red and White blew the game open in the sixth with four runs on four hits highlighted by a three-run homerun by Ryan Curl (Columbus, Ohio) to center field. Miami continued to extend its lead in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI double by Patrick Glass (Upper St. Claire, Pa.) and a Brad Gschwind (Cincinnati, Ohio) two-run double to left.
The RedHawks led 18-6 going into the ninth as the Bulls rallied for the nine runs but Miami was able to hold on as Jordan Jankowski (McMurray, Pa.) put an end to the rally and picked up his fourth save of the season.
GAME TWO
The RedHawks picked up in game two where they left off in game one scoring in each of the first five innings and scoring multiple runs in four of the first five innings to lead 11-0 after five.
Edgington homered in the second to give the sophomore two homeruns on the day. Coming into the doubleheader he only had one on the season. Curl followed the homerun with a triple and came around to score on a dropped third strike.
Miami blew the game open in the third inning scoring four runs on five hits. Glass, Gschwind and Curl all drove in runs in the frame.
The RedHawks were led in game two by a great starting performance by Jankowski who went 5.1 innings giving up no runs on two hits. On the day, Jankowski picked up a win and a save and gave up no runs in six innings. The freshman has not allowed a run in his last six appearances.
