POSTGAME QUOTES -Ohio at Miami
January 14, 2009
Head Coach Charlie Coles
(opening statement) "Tillman, Tillman, Tillman. It's been a while since we've had a guy play that well against us. I've known his dad since the `60s, and I told him after the game that he would have been proud tonight. He's a hard guy to guard, especially when he's hitting from outside like he was tonight. When he's down low, we can double. But tonight we had a real dilemma. Tillman's efforts were just heroic."
"The ballgame got away from us. We could hit some baskets to catch up, but we couldn't hit any to go ahead. The turning point, in my mind, was Michael Allen's bank shot late. That killed us."
"On our end, we've just got to get (Michael) Bramos going. He hasn't been a factor in the last three or four games. Their best player was clicking, and we need the same from ours."
Miami's Antonio Ballard
"I felt pretty jumpy early because I've been out for a while. For me, it was just all about coming back and helping the team as much as I could."
Miami forward Michael Bramos
(on his two early fouls) "I can't put my team in that situation, two fouls in two minutes."
(on Ohio's Jerome Tillman) "It seemed like he didn't miss at all in the second half. We could have done a better job. He was our focus going into the game. Once he got going, he just couldn't miss."
Head Coach JOHN GROCE
(opening statement) "The team stepped forward tonight with a complete effort. We continued our trend of sharing the basketball. We're very fortunate to play as well as we did. Jerome (Tillman) had a statement game tonight. He was dominant and carried us most of the time. Our guys knew he had the hot hand, and they game him room to work. I like the direction we're headed, but it's still very early.
Ohio's JEROME TILLMAN
"I got in the flow the second half. Miami packed it in on me early in the game. Fortunately, I just kept going, one play at a time. I know I can keep expanding my game to improve myself. "
Ohio's TOMMY FREEMAN
"Jerome does that all the time in practice. His body type and his skills on the perimeter make him a very versatile player. Defenses have a tough time stopping him."
