Postgame Quotes
Miami Head Coach Enrico Blasi:
(on how the team played overall)
[We wanted to] make sure we ended off the week on a good note and just come to play for 60 minutes.. I thought we executed really well today, made the most of all of our chances, and did a pretty good job of limiting their chances, when they had them.
(on jumping out to an early lead)
Any time you play out in front, it's a comfort zone ... it's tough to get back.
(on maintaining intensity while leading)
Our focus was to play 60 minutes; we didn't care what the score was. We wanted to make sure we respected our opponents and make sure we respected our program and what's expected of them. Really that was the focus tonight.
(on the number of breakaways created)
I think guys are doing a good job of putting pucks in good areas and anticipating and supporting the puck. It's something that we do in practice quite a bit and it's fortunate (that) we do get breakaways. It's just a matter of putting pucks in good areas.
(on performance of duo of freshman goalies Connor Knapp and Cody Reichard this season)
It's huge. We don't consider them freshman goalies anymore. They've got some experience under their belt and they've done a great job in working hard, progressing and improving every day as has our team. Really that's been the way we approach every week and every day we step on the ice. That won't change coming into the second half [of the season].
(on RPI coach Seth Appert, Blasi's former roommate and colleague)
This is his third year running the program so it's going to take some time to get his guys in there and establish what he wants with his team and the way they're going to play and their identity. Things like that don't happen overnight. He knows what he's doing. Whenever he needs some advice, whether he calls me or not, that's his decision.
(on keeping up momentum after holiday/winter break)
Everybody has time off now. Everybody's going to come into the new year in the same boat. It's a matter of who's going to continue to work hard and develop. I think the fact that we've done it so far to this point, I see our guys coming back with some excitement, some eagerness to get going.
