OXFORD, Ohio— The National Collegiate Hockey Conference released its 2026-27 schedule for conference games this afternoon. Miami Hockey will play 12 home and 12 away contests in the National, beginning with a series against new NCHC member St. Thomas on Oct. 30-31 in Oxford. In all, Anthony Noreen's RedHawks will welcome six conference opponents to Steve "Coach" Cady Arena, including half of the 2026 Frozen Four participants – Penrose Cup winner North Dakota and national champion Denver.
In November, Miami will travel to Minnesota Duluth (Nov. 6-7), host Omaha (Nov. 13-14) and play at Colorado College (Nov. 20-21). The Red and White wrap up the 2026 portion of the schedule with a series at Western Michigan Dec. 4-5 before the holiday break.
The RedHawks' January conference games include series on three-straight weekends (North Dakota Jan. 8-9, at St. Cloud State Jan. 15-16 and Arizona State Jan. 22-23). Coming out of a bye, Miami's February schedule features four consecutive NCHC opponents to finish the regular season: at St. Thomas (Feb. 5-6), Denver (Feb. 12-13), at North Dakota (Feb. 19-20) and Western Michigan (Feb. 26-27).
The 2027 NCHC Frozen Faceoff will feature all 10 conference teams, as the top five seeds will host the bottom five seeds in best-of-three series from March 5-7. The winning teams will be re-seeded, with the two lowest remaining seeds facing off in a single-game quarterfinal on March 12 at the top remaining seed. The conference semifinals will be held on March 13 with the NCHC Championship game scheduled for the next weekend, all to be played at campus sites.
The RedHawks are coming off a 2025-26 season in which they matched the largest single-season improvement in regular-season wins in program history (+15 in 1996-97) and the third-largest nationally over the past half-century (excluding forfeits and COVID), finishing with a winning record for the first time since last qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in 2015. Miami won its first trophy in a decade, claiming the Belpot at the Friendship Four in Belfast, returned to the national rankings for the first time since 2019 and matched its highest finish in the NCHC standings since 2015-16. Noreen welcomes back nine of Miami's top 12 scorers from a year ago as well as All-NCHC goaltender Matteo Drobac to go along with another strong recruiting class.
