Valparaiso Head Coach Homer Drew:
"It was a very physical game. Both teams were anxious to play. I'm proud of how we played. Miami scored early and was able to get us into a hole. But I was very pleased to be within three points at the half."
"I think there were two big key plays in the game. The first was when (Michael )Bramos hit that three pointer that bounced and bounced and bounced again before finally dropping in. The second was the three-pointer that Winbush hit from the corner. Those two plays really kept us out of reach."
"Miami was able to put pressure on us and force turnovers."
Miami Senior Forward/Center Tyler Dierkers:
"We came out strong to start. We had a couple of breakdowns on defense, but our offense came out strong enough."
"We've come far, but we have so much more to go. Were closing out our pre-conference schedule, and we've got to finish strong."
"On offense, sometimes we stand around and look to (Michael) Bramos to do everything; we need to start building an offense that can play without that."
Senior Forward Michael Bramos:
"We knew they're tough. Their record doesn't show how good they really are. They run a good motion offense. It's tough to guard but we did a pretty good job."
"This was a huge game, one of the biggest wins of the year so far, because it was a grind-it-out type of game."
Miami Head Coach Charlie Coles:
"This game was a tough game. The two games prior to this were different in the sense that the opponent tried to score points. Valparaiso likes to work shots, like us. It was a well-earned victory. There were things we weren't doing right, but every game doesn't go the same. It was a hard-fought game, and I'm happy with the victory."
"Every game is a different game. This was a game where Homer Drew had his team ready, and it was a tough game because of that."
"Usually teams get frustrated with how we play, but this game we got frustrated with how Valparaiso played."
"(Eric) Pollitz had his best all-around game tonight. We know he's a good defensive player, but his baskets helped us out tonight."
