BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Miami fell to Bowling Green, 0-3 on Thursday. The RedHawks fall to 14-9 overall and 8-3 in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons are 19-7 and 8-3 in the MAC.
The RedHawks dropped set one, 18-25. The teams traded points through the first half of the set, until the score was tied at 12. Hallie Hanks had three kills, and Michele Metzler contributed two more during that early portion of the match. An 8-3 Bowling Green run opened up a 20-15 lead for the Falcons. Hanks recorded two more kills to help Miami hang in the set, but Kaitlin Jackson was able to score the winning kill for Bowling Green.
After falling behind 0-3 early in set two, Miami responded with three straight points off three kills from Metzler. An 11-6 run established a 14-9 lead for Bowling Green. That turned out to be enough as the teams traded points from there and the Falcons scored their second straight 25-18 set win.
Miami fell behind 3-9 in set three. After a timeout, the RedHawks went on an 11-5 run to tie the score at 14. Hanks recorded three kills during that run. After trading points until the score was 21-20 in favor of the Falcons, Bowling Green went a 4-0 win to close out the 25-20 set win.
Hanks led Miami with 12 kills. Andrea Atteberry recorded 30 assists and also led the team with eight digs.
The RedHawks return to action this Saturday, when they host Northern Illinois at 5 p.m.
