ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Miami University field hockey squad fell 4-2 at the University of Michigan on Sunday afternoon, slipping to 4-7 on the season.
Teja Kammler wrapped up a very good offensive weekend with a goal to open the scoring. It was her third score of the weekend and came off a rebound on a corner opportunity in the 19th minute.
The Wolverines, however, were able to put three goals on the board in between the 33rd and 45th minute to take a two score advantage.
Alyssa Nye helped the RedHawks get back to within one goal when she scored off a Danielle Gaynor assist in the 46th minute. Michigan pulled away, though, scoring in the 49th minute to close the game's scoring.
Megan Stengel and Kelsey Dean each played in goal for MU. Stengel had one save, while allowing three goals in 49:19. Dean stopped one shot in 20:41 of play.
The hosts outshot the RedHawks 16-9 and held a 5-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Miami (4-7 overall, 2-2 MAC) will travel to Indiana University on Friday for a 3 p.m. game with the Hoosiers before returning home to host MAC-foe Missouri State at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
