Box Score

OXFORD, Ohio--In front of one of the most animated crowds Miami Volleyball has had in a while, the Miami University RedHawks collected a 30-24, 31-29, 30-20 win on Saturday evening over the Buffalo Bulls (9-15; 1-9 Mid-American Conference) to improve to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in league action.

With six conference matches remaining, Miami's seven MAC wins equals its number of league wins from a year ago.

Miami got out of the gates quickly, posting a 4-0 lead off kills by sophomore outside hitters Jeanna Staun (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and Kate Norris (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and freshman middle hitter Emily Schroeder (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and a service ace by sophomore middle hitter Carli Reihman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy). Two kills by Buffalo's Lauren Burd helped the Bulls pull within one of the `Hawks, 8-7. Miami went on a 6-1 surge, sparked by two Schroeder kills to post a 19-13 lead. Buffalo would get as close as three, 18-21, but Miami went on to collect the 30-24 win.

In the second game, Miami again posted an early 7-3 lead, aided by two Staun kills and a block by Schroeder. The Bulls came charging back to seize a 16-13 lead. Jenna Mape had three kills for the Bulls, while Brandie Clark notched two kills during the surge. Two kills apiece by Schroeder and Reihman sparked a 6-2 Miami run to give the `Hawks a 19-18 edge. Two Miami miscues put the Bulls at game point, 29-28, but a kill by Schroeder and two Buffalo attack errors gave Miami the 31-29 game-two win.

Miami opened up the third game on a 7-0 run to take command from the start and never looked back. Norris knocked down two kills and also teamed up on a block with Schroeder during the opening run. The RedHawks were able to extend their lead to 11 points, 24-13, and rolled to the 30-20 game-three win.

Schroeder paced the RedHawks with 15 kills and added 11 digs and four blocks (2 solo; 2 assist). Staun and Norris posted 11 kils apiece, while senior setter Megan Clark (Solon, Ohio/Solon) tallied 48 assists. For the seventh time this season, senior libero Suzy Wolford (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) notched a 20-plus dig effort with 20 digs during the three-game match.

Buffalo was led by Burd and Weekly, who notched nine kills each. Burd added six blocks, while Weekly tallied five (1 solo; four assist).

Miami hits the road for two conference matches next weekend when it plays at Kent State on Friday, Oct. 28 and at No. 22 Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 29. Both matches are set for 7 p.m.
