KENT, Ohio - A pair of Kent State goals in the first half proved to be the difference on Friday as the Golden Flashes (3-12, 3-2 MAC) downed the Miami University RedHawks (6-8, 3-3 MAC), 2-0. The loss dropped Miami's conference winning percentage to .500 as they head to Ohio University on Saturday to face the league-leading Bobcats at noon.
Kent State's Berber Rischen struck first, connecting on a penalty shot in the game's 11th minute before Elizabeth Lahey made it 2-0 with 13:40 remaining in the half.
Senior Kerri Orr (San Diego, Calif.) made eight saves for Miami while classmate Keri von Kalinowski (San Diego, Calif.) led the RedHawks with four shots on goal.
After the game versus Ohio on Saturday, Miami returns home to face Central Michigan and Ball State on Oct. 21 and 23, respectively.
