OXFORD, Ohio - This afternoon the Miami field hockey team dropped its 13th decision of the season as No. 18 Ohio State defeated it, 8-0, on the Miami Turf Field. The victory gives the Buckeyes 20 wins over the Red and White in 25 all-time contests between the two Ohio schools.

Junior Lucy Clayton gave OSU an early lead when she scored on a direct hit on OSU's first penalty corner. Since Clayton hit the ball in directly, two assists were awarded on the play to Vanessa Immordino and Cammie Trainer.

A little over ten minutes later the Buckeyes upped their lead to 2-0 when freshman Curlyne Wynn ripped a shot past the Miami goalie at 12:53. Clayton scored her second goal of the game on a slapshot that rose into the upper corner of the net at 19:47 to give OSU a 3-0 lead. Again, Wynn was credited with an assist on Clayton's goal.

Ohio State added another goal before the end of the half to give it a 4-0 lead after 35 minutes.

Wynn scored her second goal of the game only 7:30 into the second period after making a slick move on the right wing. After creating some space between her and her defender, Wynn smacked a shot into the opposite corner to give Ohio State a 5-0 lead.

Two-time All-American Vanessa Immordino scored Ohio State's next two goals, while Clayton completed her hat trick at 64:40. The Buckeyes finished off their 8-0 win by outshooting the RedHawks, 35-7. Freshman Kerri Matthews (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) made 13 saves for the RedHawks, and is not ranked first in the nation with 164 stops.

Miami's next game is at Louisville on Oct. 25, at 1 p.m.
