Emerald Doria

Emerald Doria is in her second year as an assistant coach with Miami Softball.

In her first year with the RedHawks, Doria helped lead an offense that hit .305 as a team and led the MAC in home runs (74), runs scored (350) and slugging percentage (.511). Chloe Parks and Shelby Kunkel added All-MAC honors as the RedHawks captured a regular season and a MAC Tournament Championship. The RedHawks would also go on to beat North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament. Miami also finished fourth in the MAC in fielding defense (.966) while working in four new starters in the infield.

Prior to Miami, Doria spent three seasons at Maryland. The Terps had a record setting season in Doria's second season on staff. Maryland posted a 38-19 record, their best since 2011. Doria led the Maryland defense to a program-best .977 fielding percentage, which led the Big Ten. She also played a crucial role in the Terp's offense which produced 36 home runs, the most since 2013.

“I am grateful to Mandy for giving me the opportunity to join the Miami University family,” said Doria. “My own family and I are excited to get plugged into the great atmosphere and culture at Miami, as well as in the city of Oxford. I am looking forward to working with the staff and meeting the talented players, and am thrilled to continue the success that has already been established. Let’s get to work, RedHawks!”

Prior to Maryland, Doria spent two seasons as the head coach at Southwestern University, compiling a 28-24 record, helping the team to a top-5 finish in the conference standings both seasons.

As Associate Head Coach from 2014-19, Doria was instrumental in helping Louisiana Tech record five straight 30-plus win seasons, a feat that hadn’t been accomplished by the program since the 1990s.

Included in that success was LA Tech's 2019 Conference USA regular season title – first in program history – and its 2017 and 2019 C-USA Tournament titles as well as a pair of NCAA Regional appearances in her last three years with the team.

She helped the Lady Techsters win 45 games, the second most in program history, while claiming both the regular season and tournament championships in 2019. Tech broke numerous team and individual single season offensive marks along the way. She was part of the 2019 staff that was named the NFCA Mideast Region co-Coaching Staff of the Year.

“Coach Doria is such an accomplished coach,” said Gardner-Colegate. “She specializes in running defensive systems and strategies, and I can’t wait for her to head our defense. Having previously been a head coach and an assistant at the highest level, she has a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring to Miami Softball. Her excitement around finding the next generation of Miami softball players and her ability to develop will help our program to continue to grow for years to come.”

Doria, who handled the Lady Techster infielders and served as the primary hitting coach, also oversaw video editing aspects of the program while also being heavily involved in recruiting.

Doria was a four-year letter-winner at Centenary College, where she played shortstop from 2006-09. She completed health and science degree in 2010.
