Biography

Drafted in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks ... rights traded to the Boston Bruins in 2015 ... named to 2013 U.S. National Junior Team and helped the U.S. win gold at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia with a goal and two assists in the tournament ... played alongside former teammate Riley Barber at World Juniors, as they became the first Miami players to capture World Junior gold.

2015-16
Suited up in all 34 games … named NCHC Defensive Forward of the Year and earned Honorable Mention All-NCHC recognition … member of the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team … ranked fourth on the team with 23 points on six goals and a team-high 17 assists … posted a career-best +5 rating, which was second on the team … led the team with 136 shots on goal, putting five or more on goal 15 times … posted five multi-point games, including a career-high four on a goal and three assists at Omaha (1/23) … finished with 17 points and a +10 rating the final 20 games after posting just six points in his first 16 games … scored the game-winning goal and added an assist at Bowling Green (2/12) … also had a goal and an assist while going +2 in a 3-2 win over St. Cloud State (2/6).

2013-14

Played in 40 of 42 games, missing both because of the World Junior Championship ... totaled 12 points on six goals and assists each ... top player on the team in the faceoff circle, going 310-233 (.571) on his draws ... scored his first collegiate goal against Ferris State (Nov. 3) and added his first assist Nov. 30 at Alaska ... notched two assists against Bowling Green in his first multi-point game (Jan. 26) ... seven of his 12 points came on the power play (three goals) ... tallied his first career multi-goal game when he netted a pair against Michigan State in the clinching game of the CCHA Quarterfinals (Mar. 17), one of which was the game-winning goal ... aded a goal Mar. 23  vs. Michigan, giving him goals in back-to-back games for the first time ... whistled for 15 penalties for 41 minutes.

Prior to Miami
Shined at the U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp in the summer of 2012, leading Team USA with three goals and three assists in just five games ... spent two seasons with the Indiana Ice of the USHL, leading them to the playoffs each time ... in 2011-12, was second on the team and fourth in the USHL with both 70 points and 32 goals in 54 regular-season games while posting a +13 rating ... earned Second-Team All-USHL in 2011-12 ... tallied three goals and three assists in six playoff games in 2011-12 ... in 2010-11, totaled 29 points, including 21 assists, in 51 games for the Ice ... had a goal and an assist in five playoff games in 2011 ... represented Team USA at the 2011 World Junior A Challenge in British Columbia, helping the Stars and Stripes earn bronze as he led all players with six points (3g, 3a) in five games ... also played for Team USA at the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in the Czech Republic, as the U.S. took silver ... earned Honor Roll at Cathedral Catholic High School.
