Jason Glorius is in his third year as the diving coach for the RedHawks. In his first season, Glorius was named the Mid-American Conference’s Men’s Diving Coach of the Year. Under Glorius’ tutelage, Miami’s Jackson Miller won both the 1-meter and 3-meter titles at the 2022 MAC Championships. Miller was named both MAC Diver of the Year and MAC Freshman Diver of the Year, and also broke the school’s platform (six-dive) record. The following season, Sydney Rice was tabbed Freshman Diver of the Year. Miami’s men won the conference team title in 2022 and 2023, with the women’s team posting top-three finishes in both years. Glorius has helped produce a total of 22 MAC finals appearances and 15 zone qualifiers.
Prior to joining the RedHawks, Glorius served as the head diving coach at Virginia from 2013-18. Glorius guided six different Cavalier divers to the NCAA Championships in his time with Virginia, while overseeing 19 ACC Finals appearances. Glorius produced one NCAA qualifier and two All-American performances in 2014, two NCAA qualifiers and one All-American in 2015, three NCAA qualifiers in 2016, three NCAA qualifiers in 2017, and four NCAA qualifiers in 2018. He also coached one ACC Post Graduate Scholarship recipient. Glorius’ divers broke every program record during his tenure in Charlottesville, and went beyond that to succeed on the international stage as well, including one 2015 World University Games finalist, four USA Diving Senior Nationals finals performances, one USA Diving Senior Nationals medalist, and five Olympic Trials qualifiers (including one finalist).
Before joining Virginia, he spent four years at Denison. Glorius guided the Big Red to 17 All-America diving performances and was named the North Coast Athletic Conference Diving Coach of the Year six times, including three on the women’s side (2010, 2011 and 2013) and three on the men’s side (2011-13). He coached seven NCAC Divers of the Year, 14 conference champions, and nine national qualifiers, including two national runner-ups and one national champion. His 2012 men’s team had three divers at the national meet and was the only program to place two divers in the top eight on both boards, racking up a total of 66 points. All eight Denison school diving records were broken during Glorius’ time with the program.
Glorius arrived at Denison after spending all of 2008 and part of 2009 as the head coach and director of the Thunderbird Diving Club in Cincinnati. In addition to running the Thunderbird club team, Glorius also coached the diving teams at Cincinnati Moeller, Indian Hill, Mariemont and Madeira high schools.
Prior to starting the Thunderbird Diving Club, Glorius was a part of the Tri State club in Cincinnati, Ohio where he worked with elite international divers who represented the United States at meets in both China and England.
Glorius graduated from Miami University in 1997 with a degree in anthropology. He dove for both Illinois and then Miami University, where he helped MU win the 1997 Mid-American Conference Championship.
