RedHawks Host Miami/Best Western Invitational Friday and Saturday

MIAMI/BEST WESTERN INVITATIONAL: The Red and White open home play by hosting the Miami/Best Western Invitational this week, Sept. 4-5. The RedHawks will begin the tournament against Evansville at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, and they will play their second match of the day in the evening versus Kansas City at 7:30 p.m. Miami concludes the tournament by facing off with Purdue Fort Wayne at 3 p.m. on Saturday.Â
ABOUT EVANSVILLE: In the 2025 season, Evansville posted a 6-22 mark and went 2-14 in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Purple Aces went 0-3 this past weekend at the Bellarmine Tournament, where they competed against Purdue Fort Wayne (3-1), Rutgers (3-1) and Bellarmine (3-0). Evansville most recently dropped to Southeast Missouri State 3-1 on Tuesday evening. The RedHawks lead the Purple Aces 5-2 in the all-time series. Miami came out on top 3-1 on Sept. 7, 2024 the last time these two teams met.
ABOUT KANSAS CITY: Kansas City recorded a 3-26 record (2-14 Summit League) in 2025. The Roos are currently 2-1 after taking down Jackson State (3-0) and UT Martin (3-2), while dropping to Austin Peay (3-0) at the Stacheville Challenge. The Roos were selected to finish seventh overall in this year's Summit League Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll. Returners Chloe Kaminski (defensive specialist/libero) and Ryanne Wattree (right side/outside hitter) were each named Summit League Preseason Players To Watch. The all-time series is 0-2 in favor of Kansas City. The last time Miami and Kansas City faced off, the RedHawks fell 3-2 on Aug. 26, 2022.Â
ABOUT PURDUE FORT WAYNE: Purdue Fort Wayne finished the 2025 season with a 3-26 record (1-17 Horizon League). The Mastodons opened the season 2-1 at the Bellarmine Classic with victories over Rutgers (3-2) and Evansville (3-1), while falling to Bellarmine (3-2). Purdue Fort Wayne was selected to finish 11th in the Horizon League Preseason Poll. The RedHawks are 6-3 when facing off with the Mastodons. The last match played between Miami and Purdue Fort Wayne resulted in a 3-0 RedHawk victory on Sept. 13, 2024.

RECENT ACTION: The RedHawks went 2-1 at the Bearkat Invitational last weekend, with wins against McNeese and Cal State Fullerton. Miami's 25-3 set three win against Cal State Fullerton was the fewest points allowed in a set in Miami history since rally scoring was introduced in 2001. Sophomore outside hitter Molly Creech and senior outside hitter Chelsea Williams were named to the Bearkat Invitational All-Tournament Team. Creech recorded 4.33 kills per set while maintaining a .239 hitting percentage. She also had 52 kills, five service aces and three assists offensively, while adding 21 digs and two blocks on defense. Williams put down 2.92 kills per set with a .338 hitting percentage. She totaled 35 kills, seven digs and three blocks.
