RedHawks Sweep Thursday Slate, Collect 11th Straight Win

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Miami University softball team picked up two wins, collecting their 11th win in-a-row Thursday afternoon, defeating Indiana University–Indianapolis 13–0 and Eastern Kentucky University 3–2.

The RedHawks are in Richmond, Ky., all weekend and will face Northern Kentucky University at 12:30 p.m. and Indiana University–Indianapolis at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow, March 6.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1 vs IU Indy)
- The RedHawks opened up scoring in the first, with Bailey Manos scoring off a double by Evey Dieudonne.
- Miami extended their lead in the second inning with a home run from Katy Olive. Leila Mathis then scored off a groundout by Mckenna Campbell. Manos then hit a double, bringing Lindsey Miller home to make it 4-0.
- The RedHawks kept it going in the sixth inning, with Manos scoring off a groundout by Dieudonne. Erin Pinter then singled, allowing Mia Estrello to score, making the score 6-0.
- Ella Carter and Manos hit home runs in the seventh. Pinter then doubled, and both Estrello and Campbell Beatty scored. Olive then hit her second home run of the game, bringing Pinter home with her. Mathis finished off the seventh with the fourth home run of the inning, making the final score 13-0.
NOTES:
- Léa Chevrier pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing two hits.
- Bailey Manos went 5-for-5 at the plate, had three runs, one being a home run, hit two doubles and was credited with two RBI.
- Katy Olive went 2-for-4 at the plate, with two home runs and three RBI.
- Erin Pinter went 2-for-4 at the plate, with two doubles and three RBI.
- Mia Estrello went 2-for-3 at the plate and had two runs.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2 vs EKU)
- The RedHawks started it off strong at the top of the first with Mia Estrello scoring off Erin Pinter being hit by a pitch. Evey Dieudonne then scored when Katy Olive was also hit by a pitch. Danitza Hernandez scored the third run of the inning when Leila Mathis walked.
- At the bottom of the first, the Colonels scored off a sacrifice fly, making the score 3-1.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the Colonels scored once more on a single, but it wasn't enough, as the RedHawks won, 3-2.
- Miami's pitching held EKU scoreless to close the contest.
NOTES:
- Katy Olive went 2-for-3 at the plate and was credited with one RBI.
- Mia Estrello went 2-for-3 at the plate and had one run.
- Danitza Hernandez went 2-for-3 at the plate, hit one double and had one run.
- Angelina Ricciardi pitched a complete game and allowed six hits and two runs.
