RedHawks Sweep Weekly MAC Honors for Second Straight Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – On Wednesday morning, Danitza Hernandez and Léa Chevrier were honored by the Mid-American Conference. Hernandez was named Co-Player of the Week, while Chévrier was named Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Hernandez recorded a .538 (7-for-13) batting average with a .923 slugging percentage and 1.494 OPS across four starts, totaling six RBI and three extra-base hits (2 2B, 1 HR). She delivered a 3-for-3 performance with a home run and four RBI vs. Drake (2/27), added a pair of multi-hit games with an extra-base hit vs. Missouri (Feb. 27-28), and reached base safely in three of four contests.
Chévrier went 2–0 in two complete-game starts this week, totaling 13.0 innings pitched with a 3.77 ERA. She allowed 11 hits, 7 runs (all earned), and struck out 8 while holding opponents to a .224 batting average. She earned a win vs. Drake (6.0 IP, 5 ER, 5 SO) and followed with a complete-game victory vs. Missouri (7.0 IP, 2 ER). This week's performance also marked a career milestone, as Chévrier reached 100 strikeouts at Miami.
UP NEXT: The RedHawks return to action Thursday, March 5, traveling to Richmond, Ky., to face Eastern Kentucky at 4 p.m.
