RedHawks Clash With WMU on CBS Sports Network Friday Night

FRIDAY: The RedHawks continue their road trip at Western Michigan Friday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The Red and White enter this Friday's game as the only remaining undefeated team in the country with a 28-0 (15-0 MAC) record, its best start to a season in program history. Miami holds a new program record for wins in a season, breaking the mark of 25 established last year. The RedHawks hold the program record for most consecutive road wins overall (13) and in a season (12) as well. The Red and White have also secured the best start for a program in MAC history (originally set by WMU in 1975-76 at 19-0) and the longest win streak in MAC history (originally set by Kent State in 2001-02 at 21-0).Â
ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN: Western Michigan is currently 10-18 (4-11 MAC), as the Broncos defeated Bowling Green 88-79 Tuesday night. Western Michigan went 12-20 (9-9 MAC) last year. Head coach Dwayne Stephens is in his fourth season with the Broncos. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Western Michigan was selected to finish 10th overall in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men's Basketball Poll.Â
Redshirt senior Justice Williams (14.9/game), junior guard Jalen Griffith (12.7/game) and senior guard Jayden Brewer (12.6/game) lead the Broncos offense in points. Griffith also leads the team in assists (3.5/game) and steals (1.0/game), while Brewer averages the most rebounds (6.7/game) and blocks (1.0/game). Griffith has missed the past two games for the Broncos.
THE SERIES WITH THE BRONCOS: This Friday's away contest against the Broncos will be the 145th meeting between the two programs. Miami leads the series 91-53 all-time, as the Red and White are 31-39 when playing in Kalamazoo against the Broncos. Miami is currently on a one-game winning streak against the Broncos, as the RedHawks won 87-76 in Oxford on Jan. 6, 2026.
RECENT ACTION: No. 21 Miami University held Eastern Michigan scoreless for the first 6:30 of the game Tuesday and went on to defeat the Eagles 74-64 to improve to 28-0 (15-0 MAC). Brant Byers led four RedHawks in double figures with 16 points, while Antwone Woolfolk added 14. Peter Suder chipped in 13 to go with a game-high 10 rebounds and surpassed the 1,500-point mark for his collegiate career. Almar Atlason added 12 points off the bench for the Red and White, who committed a season-low four turnovers as a team. With this win, Miami is now 15-0 in conference play for the first time in program history. The RedHawks extended their road winning streak to 13 overall games and to 12 games in a season (each are the best in program history). Miami extended the program record for most wins in a season to 28 (previously: 25 last season). The RedHawks' four turnovers marked the team's lowest single-game total since Dec. 11, 2020 vs. Mount St. Joseph. Miami retained its highest ranking of the 2025-26 season on the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll, as Collegeinsider announced its newest poll this past Monday, with the RedHawks ranked No. 2 overall.
