2/16/2026 3:02:00 PM | Men's Basketball
TUESDAY: Miami heads northeast for a road contest at UMass on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. on ESPN+. With No. 1 Arizona falling to Kansas last week, Miami is the only remaining undefeated team in the country. The Red and White enter this Tuesday's game with a 25-0 (12-0 MAC) record, its best start to a season in program history. The RedHawks have also secured the best start for a program in MAC history (originally set by WMU in 1975-76 at 19-0) and the longest win streak in MAC history (originally set by Kent State in 2001-02 at 21-0).Â
ABOUT UMASS: UMass is currently 15-11 (6-7 MAC), as the Minutemen most recently dropped a pair of road games to Coastal Carolina (91-94, 3OT) and Akron (92-99). UMass went 12-20 (7-11 A10) last year. Head coach Frank Martin is in his fourth season with the Minutemen. Heading into the 2025-26 season, UMass was selected to finish fifth overall in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men's Basketball Poll. Senior forward Daniel Hankins-Sanford was named to the Preseason All-MAC Second Team.
Graduate student forward Leonardo Bettiol leads the Minutemen in points (17.6/game) and graduate student guard Marcus Banks Jr. follows closely behind (16.9/game). Bettiol has brought down the most rebounds (7.7/game), freshman guard Danny Carbuccia has recorded the most assists (6.5/game), guard/forward Jayden Ndjigue has totaled the most steals (1.4/game) and Hankins-Sanford has produced the most blocks (0.7/game).Â
THE SERIES WITH THE MINUTEMEN: This Tuesday's home contest against the Minutemen will be the fourth meeting between the two programs. UMass leads in the series 2-1 all-time. Miami defeated UMass earlier this season in Oxford 86-84 on Jan. 27. The RedHawks have only played in Amherst once, as they dropped 65-73 on Jan. 4, 2014.Â
