Hosick, Appelwick Named Miami Athletes of the Week

For their performances last week, Presley Hosick and Evan Appelwick are Miami's Athletes of the Week, presented by Skyline Chili for the week of Feb. 16.

Female Winner: Presley Hosick
Presley Hosick delivered a dominant complete-game shutout (1 CG, 1 SH), tossing 7.0 innings with seven strikeouts and just three hits allowed. She issued three walks, gave up no runs (0 R, 0 ER), and held opponents to a .143 batting average, earning the win (1-0) while maintaining a perfect 0.00 ERA. A senior pitcher from Bakersfield, Calif., she is studying Liberal Studies in the College of Liberal Arts and Applied Science.

Male Winner: Evan Appelwick
Evan Appelwick hit .500 this week through three games, accumulating five hits on 10 total at bats. Appelwick came in to score six times, walked three times, and batted in eight runs for the RedHawks in a dominant sweep over Southern University. He also hit three home runs, bringing his career total with the RedHawks to 41, and was perfect while fielding at first base. A redshirt senior first baseman from Madison, S.D., he is studying Business Analytics in the Farmer School of Business.
