RedHawks Split Friday Doubleheader in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Miami softball team battled through a Friday night doubleheader in Memphis, falling to the Evansville Purple Aces in game one before bouncing back with a dominant shutout victory over the Memphis Tigers in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1 vs Evansville)
- The Aces came out strong at the top of the second inning, capitalizing on a fielding error to get on the board.
- They extended their lead in the third, plating runs on a triple, a two-run home run, and three additional runs to take a commanding 7–0 advantage.
- The RedHawks responded in the bottom of the third with Bailey Manos scoring off of a double by Katy Olive. Olive advanced to third on a wild pitch and then ran in to score, making it 7-2.
- At the top of the fifth, the Aces widened the gap, scoring three more runs, making the score 10-2.
- The RedHawks, Keri Kreuger singled, allowing Olive to run in to score in the bottom of the fifth, 10-3.
- The Aces scored once more in the seventh inning, making the final score 11-3.
NOTES:
- Katy Olive went 2-for-3 at the plate, scored two runs and was credited with one RBI.
- Kari Kreuger went 1-for-1 at the plate and was credited with one RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2 vs Memphis)
- The RedHawks broke things open in the second inning, getting on the board when Mia Estrello scored on a single by Kreuger. With the bases loaded, Manos delivered a triple, driving in Danitza Hernandez from third, Maddie Patton from second, and Kreuger from first. Manos later came home on a single by Olive, who would also score after a fielding error, extending the RedHawks lead to 6-0.
- In the top of the fourth, the RedHawks extended their lead with Erin Pinter stealing second and Olive stealing home.
- The RedHawks won 7-0.
NOTES:
- Katy Olive went 3-for-3 at the plate, was credited with one RBI and scored two runs, one being stealing home.
- Presley Hosick pitched the complete game and only allowed three hits and no runs. She matched her career-high with seven strikeouts.
- Bailey Manos was credited with three out of the five RBI.
- Miami had seven stolen bases in the win
