(RV) RedHawks to Open 2026 at (RV) Arizona State

(RV) Miami gets the 2026 portion of its season underway and returns to NCHC play with a trip to face (RV) Arizona State. The RedHawks (11-7-2, 2-6-2 NCHC) took third place at the Great Lakes Invitational to close December, losing to (RV) Michigan Tech 5-2 and beating Ferris State 4-2. The Sun Devils (11-10-1, 4-5-1 NCHC) claimed the Desert Hockey Classic title last week by defeating Alaska Anchorage 7-2 and then beating Air Force 5-2. ASU has won eight of its last 11 games and defeated four different top-10 teams over that span (North Dakota, Denver, Minnesota Duluth, Dartmouth).

This week's games at Mullett Arena are set for Friday, Jan. 9 at 9 p.m. ET and Saturday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. ET. The contests will be broadcast on NCHC.tv, with Greg Waddell's audio broadcast streaming on MiamiRedHawks.com.

Matteo Giampa (9-10-19) leads the RedHawks in points and also shares the team lead in goals with Maximilion Helgeson (9-5-14). Vladislav Lukashevich (2-14-16) tops Miami in assists. Matteo Drobac is 10-7-2 in net (3.14 GAA, .898 save %).

Freshman forward David Deputy (last week's NCHC Rookie of the Week) and head coach Anthony Noreen met with the media this week to preview the games against the Sun Devils.
