Meet the 2025-26 Miami Hockey Team: Benji Motew

OXFORD, Ohio— With the Miami Hockey season set to begin on Friday, Oct. 3 against Ferris State at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena, second-year head coach Anthony Noreen's program will have quite a few new faces in 2025-26.
 
Benji Motew, a goaltender from Glencoe, Ill., will join the RedHawks this year. He played last season in the NAHL, first with the Maryland Black Bears and then with the Corpus Christi IceRays.

PRIOR TO MIAMI
  • Played 37 games in 2024-25 season between Maryland and Corpus Christi, posting a 20-13-4 record
  • Finished 2024-25 with a combined 2.75 GAA and .905 save percentage in net
  • Posted a 1.64 GAA and .949 save percentage in 2025 playoffs for IceRays, including 58-save and 51-save performance
  • Spent previous two seasons with SJHL's Humboldt Broncos, where he was 44-16-1 in net with three shutouts
  • Produced a 2.73 GAA and .906 save percentage in 2022-23, with a 2.18 GAA and .934 % in postseason
  • Compiled a 2.74 GAA and .915 save percentage in 2023-24 regular season and was named team's playoff MVP with 2.49 GAA and .932 % in 14 postseason games
  • Played for Chicago Mission 15U, 16U and 18U teams
