OXFORD, Ohio— Two members of the Miami University hockey team have signed deals with ECHL clubs this week. Forward Maximilion Helgeson has joined the Cincinnati Cyclones, while defenseman Kyle Aucoin is heading to the Indy Fuel.
Helgeson, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, appeared in all 36 games for the Red and White this season with 10 goals and 10 assists. The Alaska Anchorage transfer produced a total of 43 goals and 45 assists in his collegiate career across 131 NCAA Division I games. Helgeson made his Cincinnati debut Friday night and contributed an assist in the Cyclones' overtime win.
Aucoin, a product of Hinsdale, Ill., skated in 29 games for Miami this season and put up one assist. For his career, the Harvard transfer collected 10 points (2-8-10) in 119 appearances.
Both RedHawk standouts were key parts of the biggest turnarounds in college hockey over the past half-century, as Miami won 18 games (18-16-2), a 15-game improvement over the previous season.
