OXFORD, Ohio – On Sunday afternoon and Senior Day the Miami University softball team defeated the University at Buffalo 4-2 and claimed their sixth-straight regular season MAC Championship. They are now 31-23 on the season (20-7 Mid-American Conference). The University at Buffalo finishes their season 17-33 (10-17 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bulls got on the board first in the top of the first with a two-run home run to take a 2-0 lead.
- Mckenna Campbell tied it up 2-2 in the bottom of the first on a two-run double that scored Kaylee Oh and Chloe Parks.
- Jenna Golembiewski followed that up with a RBI single that brought Campbell home to give the RedHawks a 3-2 lead.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Ella Carter smashed a solo home run over left field to up the Miami lead to 4-2.
- The RedHawks held this lead through the remainder of the game to take the 4-2 victory.
NOTES:
- The RedHawks claimed their sixth straight regular season MAC Championship and have earned the No. 1 seed in the MAC Championship Tournament.
- Kunkel, Carter, and Golembiewski went 2-for-3 at the plate. Parks went 2-for-2.
- Parks earned her 10th career triple, which ties her for third in the Miami Record Book.
- Madilyn Reeves pitched the complete game, allowing just five hits. She struck out seven.
- The Red and White notched three extra-base hits.
- Five RedHawks had hits.
