3/5/2025 3:53:00 PM | Hockey
Miami Hockey concludes its 2024-25 season with a home series against No. 4/5 Western Michigan. The RedHawks are 3-26-3 (0-21-1 NCHC) after a pair of overtime games at Minnesota Duluth last weekend, including a hard-fought 1-1 tie Saturday. The Broncos are 24-7-1 (17-4-1 NCHC) and clinched the program's first Penrose Cup outright last week with a 6-4 win and 4-3 OT loss at home to then-No. 18 North Dakota.
This week's games are set for Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena with puck drop at 7:05 p.m. both nights. The games will air on NCHC.tv, with tape-delayed coverage of both games on Rock Entertainment Sports Network. Greg Waddell (play-by-play) and Drew Davis (analyst) have the call. Miami's radio broadcast will be available on WKBV 1490 AM (Richmond, Ind.) Friday and WMOH 1450 AM The Ticket (Hamilton, Ohio) Saturday. Â
Miami will recognize Spencer Cox, Raimonds Vitolins, Matt Choupani, Ryan Sullivan, Christophe Fillion, Brett Miller, Colby Ambrosio and Conner Hutchison on Senior Night before Saturday's game. The class includes five first-year RedHawks. (Fifth-year defensemen Dylan Moulton and Hampus Rydqvist will also play their final series at Cady Arena, but both were already honored on Senior Night at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.)
Ambrosio (6-12-18) and Johnny Waldron (4-14-18) are tied for the team point lead. Waldron has a team-high 14 assists, while Ambrosio shares the goal lead with Sullivan (6-4-10) and Casper Nassen (6-3-9). Bruno Bruveris (2-12-2, 3.86 GAA, .875 save %) and Ethan Dahlmeir (1-10-1, 4.04 GAA, .870 save percentage) have each made double-digit starts in net for Miami this year.
Moulton and head coach Anthony Noreen met with the media this week to preview the games against the Broncos.
