OXFORD, Ohio – On Wednesday afternoon the Miami University softball team took a 7-6 victory over the University of Dayton with a Chloe Parks walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh. The RedHawks improve to 13-15 (3-0 MAC) on the season. The Flyers fall to 12-10 (3-0 A-10).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Chloe Parks hit a RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the first, pushing Shelby Kunkel across the plate and taking a 1-0 lead for the RedHawks.
- In the bottom of the second, Kaylee Oh hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Danitza Hernandez and double Miami's advantage to 2-0.
- Parks knocked in another RBI single in the bottom of the third so that Jenna Golembiewski could cross home and make it a 3-0 game.
- A RBI single from Mckenna Campbell in that same inning allowed Ella Carter and Parks to score and push the RedHawks' advantage to 5-0.
- Oh followed that up with a RBI single of her own, scoring Madie Patton and making it a 6-0 lead.
- Dayton got on the board in the top of the fourth with a RBI single followed by a two-RBI double, cutting the deficit to 6-3.
- A walk with the bases loaded in the top of the fifth allowed another run across for the Flyers, cutting the difference to 6-4.
- In that same inning, an error put another run across for the Flyers, making it a 6-5 game.
- Dayton tied the game up 6-6 in the top of the sixth with a RBI single.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Parks walked it off with a double to center field that scored Campbell and took the victory 7-6.
NOTES:
- Kunkel went 2-for-4 at the plate. Parks went 3-for-4.
- Campbell went 3-for-3 at the plate.
- Madilyn Reeves went five innings in the circle, striking out five and allowing just two earned runs.
- Léa Chevrier went to the mound in the top of the sixth to close out the game. She earned the win, struck out two, and allowed just one run.
- Seven different RedHawks scored runs. Seven had hits.
- Kunkel, Parks, and Campbell each recorded a double in the game.
