COLUMBUS, Ohio – The RedHawks fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes Tuesday evening 14-7 in a stand-alone contest.
Dominic Krupinski and
Ryan Novak each highlighted Miami's offensive efforts with a two-run homer. Miami falls to 10-10 with the loss while Ohio State improves to 6-12.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami scored one run in the top of the first inning after Anthony Zarlingo and Ty Batusich each singled and Zarlingo came home on a fielder's choice. This gave Miami their first and only lead of the game, 1-0.
- The Buckeyes brought the bats in the bottom of the first, scoring seven runs on four hits, two walks and an HBP to take a 7-1 lead.
- Ohio State extended its lead to 8-1 after a double and a single in the bottom of the second.
- Kaden Pfeffer sent down three straight Buckeyes in the bottom of the third, including one strikeout.
- OSU tacked on one run in the bottom of the fourth via an inside-the-park home run.
- The RedHawks answered with two runs in the top of the fifth. Bausich walked and David Novak singled to advance Batusich to third. An HBP loaded the bases and Ryan Novak walked to force in a run. A sacrifice lineout made it 9-3.
- Ohio State hit a three-run home run ball in the bottom of the fifth to bring the score to 12-3. They added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth after Miami walked in two Buckeyes, making it 14-3.
- The RedHawks pulled back within nine runs in the top of the seventh, scoring two. Carson Raether walked and Krupinski hit a two-run homer to right field.
- Charlie Dieruf took the mound for Miami in the bottom of the seventh and saw three up and three down. He held the Buckeyes scoreless again in the bottom of the eighth, ending the inning on a pickoff at first base.
- Raether walked in the ninth, and Ryan Novak scored Miami's final runs of the game with a two-run homer.
MIAMI GAME NOTES:
- Krupinski went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs, and a run.
- Ryan Novak had three RBIs, two walks, and a run.

The RedHawks will travel to Ypsilanti this weekend for a three-game series against the Eastern Michigan Eagles beginning on Friday, March 21. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
