RedHawks Shut Out Stonehill 5-0

OXFORD, Ohio – On Tuesday evening the Miami University softball team took down Stonehill College 5-0. The RedHawks improve to 9-14 on the season. Stonehill drops to 5-6.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks open up Mid-American Conference play this weekend when they face Kent State University in Kent, Ohio on Friday, March 14 at 3 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first three and a half innings were quiet offensively for both teams.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Ella Carter hit a two-run homer that also scored Chloe Parks to grab a 2-0 lead for the RedHawks.
- Still in the fourth, as Danitza Hernandez attempted to steal second, Erin Pinter took home to make it a RedHawk lead of 3-0.
- Pinter walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth to push the advantage to 4-0.
- A RBI double from Shelby Kunkel in the bottom of the sixth allowed Nathalie Hagle to cross home to extend the Red and White's lead to 5-0, which they held through the end of the game.
NOTES:
- Kunkel went 3-for-4 at the plate and recorded her 75th career hit.
- Oh, Kunkel, Parks, and Carter hit for extra bases
- Madilyn Reeves went five innings in the circle. She allowed just three hits and struck out seven.
- Léa Chevrier pitched two innings for the Red and White. She did not allow a single hit.
- Shelbie Krieger closed the game on the bump and did not allow a single base runner.
- Hagle recorded her first career run.
