YPSILANTI, Mich.-- The Miami women's indoor team finished the first night of the MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in first place with 32 points. Four different RedHawk field athletes finished in the top three of their respective events, while five different RedHawk track runners qualified for the finals of their events tomorrow.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the field for the women, Ella Scally claimed the women's long jump title, finishing in first place with a mark of 6.15 meters. Ella Rigel finished in third place in the women's weight throw event with a new PR of 19.52 meters. Rigel broke the school record that she set last week by .09 meters. In the women's pole vault event, Mia Boule was the highest placing RedHawk, as she came in second place with 3.93 meters. Emily Eterovich also made the podium for the pole vault event, finishing in third place with 3.93 meters. Grace Hicks took ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.53 meters.
- In the women's 400-meter dash prelims, Abby Suszek finished in first place with a time of 54.56 seconds and Lucca Agate came in eighth at 57.01 seconds; both runners qualified for Saturday's 400-meter finals. In the women's 60-meter dash prelims, Scally and Keira McGregor tied for fifth place with a time of 7.60 seconds to both qualify for Saturday's finals. Suszek ran in the 200-meter dash prelims and qualified for the Saturday finals, finishing in fifth place with a time of 24.44 seconds. Scally finished in 10th place in the 200-meter dash prelims with a time of 24.82 seconds.
- In the women's 800-meter prelims, Eve Traficanti qualified for the Saturday finals by finishing in eighth place with a new personal-best time of 2:12.31. Traficanti beat the previous time that she set last week at the Wittenberg Invite by .01 seconds and replaces herself at 10th in Miami history for the 800-meter run. The distance medley relay team of Nora Zubillaga, Linda Conchetto, Rachel Smith, and Avery Emerson finished in seventh place with a time of 12:03.37.
