COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – 16 Miami University student-athletes were recognized today as part of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's annual Academic All-Conference Team for carrying a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade-point average.
Nine of those RedHawks also earned NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete honors for maintaining a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.
The conference's list of 131 total Academic All-Conference student-athletes features eight players who are five-time honorees, including Miami defenseman Hampus Rydqvist.
While freshmen and first-year transfers are not currently eligible for the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team or Distinguished Scholar-Athlete recognition, those freshmen and transfers that achieve a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better at the conclusion of the 2024-25 academic year will be added to the Academic All-Conference Team by the NCHC over the summer. Similarly, any freshmen or transfers who compile a 3.5 GPA or better will be named a NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete.
Miami is back in action this weekend (Feb. 21-22), hosting No. 6/7 Denver at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena.
