COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.– No. 19/RV Colorado College got off to a quick start with three goals in the first nine minutes and went on to defeat the Miami University hockey team by a score of 6-1 Friday night.
Dylan Moulton lit the lamp for the RedHawks (3-22-2, 0-17-0 NCHC). Drew Montgomery led the Tigers (15-13-1, 9-9-1 NCHC) with a pair of goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 4:09 1st (CC 1-0) | The Tigers opened the scoring on a long-range shot by Philippe Blais-Savoie from near the blue line. Blais-Savoie held the puck in at the right point and flung an unassisted shot from deep that found the back of the net.
- 6:08 1st (CC 2-0) | Less than two minutes later, the home team doubled its lead. Montgomery redirected a Ty Gallagher shot out of mid-air to make it 2-0. Chase McLane chased down the puck in CC's offensive zone to get the play started.
- 8:46 1st (CC 3-0) | Montgomery's second goal of the period stretched the CC advantage to 3-0. With the teams playing 4-on-4, Montgomery finished off his own rebound after assists by Gallagher and Bret Link.
- 3:52 2nd (CC 4-0) | Owen Beckner made it 4-0 in the middle stanza, converting a one-timer in front off a feed from Zaccharya Wisdom behind the net. Ethan Straky also had an assist on the play.
- 6:57 2nd (Miami 4-1) | Miami got on the scoreboard with a Moulton blast three minutes later. Ryan Sullivan sent the puck ahead to Frankie Carogioiello, and Carogioiello battled to keep the play alive in the offensive zone before firing a shot that was deflected directly to Moulton. Moulton immediately ripped a shot over CC's Kaidan Mbereko to trim the deficit to 4-1.
- 11:59 2nd (CC 5-1) | Colorado College answered back on a Gavin Lindberg goal later in the period. After Max Burkholder connected on a long pass to Beckner, Beckner dropped the puck off to a trailing Lindberg to finish.
- 3:25 3rd (CC 6-1) | The Tigers added a power-play goal in the third period, as Klavs Veinbergs attempted a shot that deflected off a RedHawk's stick and past Bruno Bruveris. Beckner and Blais-Savoie were credited with the assists.
