RedHawks Begin Road Trip at UNC Asheville Wednesday Night

WEDNESDAY: Miami travels to face off with the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. The Red and White enter this game with an 8-0 record, its best start to a season since the 1995-96 season. The best start to a season in program history is 10-0 (1917-18 and 1943-44). Miami ranks among the top of the nation in numerous statistical categories heading into this game, which includes being third in scoring margin (28.6), fourth in the country in effective field goal percentage (61.9%), sixth in field goal percentage (52.8%), sixth in scoring offense (95.4), 11th in free throw percentage (78.7%), 14th in threes per game (11.4), 18th in three-point percentage (39.7%), 20th in bench points per game (37.25), 26th in defensive rebounds per game (29.38) and 33rd in rebound margin (9.4).
ABOUT UNC ASHEVILLE: UNC Asheville is currently 4-5, as the Bulldogs most recently dropped to the NC State Wolfpack 63-75 on Saturday afternoon. UNC Asheville went 21-11 (11-5 Big South) last year. Head coach Mike Morrell is in his eighth season with the Bulldogs. Heading into the 2025-26 season, UNC Asheville was selected to finish second overall in the 2025-26 Big South Preseason Men's Basketball Poll.
Fifth-year guard Justin Wright (17.4), sophomore guard/forward Kameron Taylor (17.1), fifth-year forward Toyaz Solomon (16.3) and redshirt senior DJ Patrick (10.7/game) all lead the Bulldogs with double figures in scoring. Solomon leads the team in both rebounds (6.2/game) and blocks (1.0/game). Taylor has recorded the most assists (3.0/game), while Wright has brought in the most steals (1.78/game). Â

RECENT ACTION: The Miami University men's basketball team dominated the Maine Black Bears by securing a 93-61 victory on Saturday afternoon at Millett Hall. Evan Ipsaro led the RedHawks with a career-high 24 points, while Eian Elmer (16), Almar Atlason (10) and Trey Perry (10) scored double digits. Ipsaro shot 9-of-13 from the field and 6-of-8 from behind the three-point line (the most field goals and triples made in a single game for Ipsaro). Atlason continued his stellar shooting from the free-throw line, as he is put in a pair of shots from the charity stripe to improve to 22-of-22 on the season.
RANKINGS: The Miami University men's basketball team received two votes in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll for the first time in the 2025-26 season on Monday. The Red and White also remained at its highest ranking of the 2025-26 season on the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll, as Collegeinsider announced its new poll Monday evening, with the RedHawks still ranked No. 4 overall. The RedHawks are just one of eight teams that are still undefeated at the Division I level (Duke, Iowa St., Nebraska, Oklahoma St., Vanderbilt, Arizona, Miami and Michigan).
